Santa raises funds for Sandwell Hospital

Santa raises cash for kids at Sandwell Hospital.

We’re delighted to announce that we raised £1,500 for the children’s wards at Sandwell Hospital from our Christmas fundraising activity!

The money was raised in partnership with Hills Funfair from our Santa’s Grotto, which was in residence at New Square in the build up to Christmas, with a big chunk of the entry fee taken going to support the charity.

Santa also took a bit of a break from the grotto to visit the children on the wards, some of who wouldn’t be at home for the festive season, delivering presents donated by New Square’s stores including The Entertainer.

The money will go a long way towards helping children to feel better, as Paediatric Ward Manager at Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust, Joy Haywood explains: “We are extremely grateful for this donation and everything that New Square has given to the kids over the last year. We have been able to buy new equipment and toys for the wards which can make a massive difference to wellbeing and how quickly a child recovers from illness or injury.”

Steve Burr, Centre Manager at New Square comments: “It was wonderful visiting the children’s wards with Santa and we’re delighted to be able to make this donation to further support young patients at Sandwell Hospital. We nominated the hospital as our Charity of the Year 2016 and this will be the first of many events taking place at New Square, all raising funds to support local patients.”
